KAUST is an international graduate-level science and technology research university located on the shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. Home to world-class faculty, scientists, engineers and students from around the globe, the campus's nine research centers focus on finding solutions to problems in areas related to water, food, energy and the environment. Students have the opportunity to access state-of-the-art labs and our eminent faculty, while obtaining a diverse graduate study experience.
KAUST's Red Sea Research Center is developing an integrated understanding of the various ecosystems of the Red Sea. In particular, emphasis is placed on coral reef ecosystems and their oceanographic context. Efforts are directed at gaining an understanding of the interplay between physical, chemical, biological, and geological factors as well as the stresses arising from natural and anthropogenic causes such as overfishing, coastal development, and global climate change. A main goal of the RSRC is to develop methods to sustain and conserve coral reef environments along the coast of the Red Sea.
